Cathy Harris Speech Therapy

Cathy Harris has dedicated over 15 years of her career to practicing speech therapy in the greater Kansas City area, working in both public and private school settings as well as in private practice. She specializes in providing comprehensive therapy services for school-aged children and has significant expertise in autism spectrum disorder therapy, fluency disorders, hearing loss, childhood apraxia of speech, and phonological processing disorders. 

Cathy earned her graduate degree from the University of Kansas, where she contributed to the LAARC Research Project—a five-year, multidisciplinary study focused on understanding the development of language and reading comprehension. She provided thorough evaluations to school-aged children in areas such as articulation and language development. This work involved close collaboration with professionals from various disciplines, and it informed her research-based assessment and intervention practices. Additionally, during her graduate studies, she obtained certification in early childhood special education, which led to her providing early intervention services in both Missouri and Kansas. 

Throughout her career in speech therapy in Kansas City, Cathy has worked with diverse populations and has pursued additional specialized training in evidence-based language therapy approaches. She firmly believes that meaningful progress is achieved through strong collaboration with clients, families, and educational teams. Her approach to autism spectrum disorder therapy is rooted in research and driven by genuine compassion for each individual, ensuring they can reach their full communication potential.
