Jenny Knight

Jenny Knight is a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist dedicated to helping children achieve their communication goals. She earned her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Oklahoma: Health Sciences Center and has been practicing for 15 years. Jenny specializes in a variety of areas, including social communication, articulation, and expressive and receptive language, with a focus on communication challenges related to Autism and ADHD.

With a diverse background in various settings, including schools and home-based therapy, Jenny brings a wealth of experience to her practice. She spent three years at the OUHSC Child Study Center, where she was an integral part of a multidisciplinary team that conducted comprehensive evaluations for children with suspected autism. Her experience also includes working with an interdisciplinary team evaluating children with known or suspected in utero exposure to harmful substances.

Jenny's professional expertise is uniquely complemented by her personal experience as a parent of a child with Autism and children with ADHD, as well as an adult with ADHD herself. She approaches each child's needs not only as a professional but also as a parent and individual with a personal understanding of the challenges many families face. Jenny firmly believes that it "takes a village" of family, teachers, and providers to help every child succeed and is dedicated to working collaboratively to make that happen.

In addition to seeing clients at our clinic, Jenny provides therapy at various locations, including Limitless ABA, a local daycare, Community Christian Academy (CCA), and Shawnee Mission Christian School (SMCS).

Favorite children’s book:  Skippyjon Jones in the Dog House

Favorite play based therapy activity: Play kitchen with dishes and toy food

Best moment as a clinician: When a client has an "aha!" moment and suddenly understands the skill they have been working on.

Funniest moment as a clinician: When I sat on a folding chair I didn't know was broken and it collapsed under me right in front of a school-based speech therapy group. We all had to wipe away tears after laughing so hard!

Why did you become a speech-language pathologist?  I started with a major in Social Work but wasn't enjoying it. I took a class on Human Development and was fascinated with the section on speech and language development, but didn't know there was a career in that area. My parents' neighbor dropped by not long after that to tell them she felt like she needed to mention that her daughter was a Speech-Language Pathologist and that she thought I might like that career. My mom called me about it, I observed some graduate students providing speech therapy in their clinicals, and was immediately hooked. I've never looked back!
